What is BREEAM
BREEAM® (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology) is a private scheme developed by British private agencies. It includes a voluntary assessment and certification of sustainability in any type of building. Its aimis to achieve a positive impact of construction on the environment, health and the economy.
The certificate is based on the evaluation by points of the following categories:
- Management
- Health & Wellbeing
- Energy
- Transport
- Water consumtion and efficiency
- Materials
- Waste
- Land use & Ecology
- Pollution
- Innovation
The BREEAM certificate can be applied to any type or construction phase of the building’s life cycle, and for the following cases: Housing, New Construction, Urban Planning, Building renovation, Infrastructure.
BREEAM has 5 certification levels: Pass, Good, Very Good, Excellent and Outstanding.
